REVIEW | Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I’ve been using the Maybelline Falsies mascara for as long as it’s around, I think. Lately I’ve been in need of a new mascara, because mine was pretty much empty again. So I went to the drugstore to buy myself a new Maybelline mascara! When I was there, I ran into this sign that said ‘NEW – LASH MULTIPLYING MASCARA!’ Ok, interesting. The packaging of this Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara said that the special brush can make lashes look visibly multiplied and fuller. After hesitating for a while, I left the store with not one – but two of these bad boys! Time to try out the new stuff!
The packaging – in my opinion – is perfect! It’s a vintage-looking shade of pink, with a metallic glow. The words are black, which makes it easy to read. Simply, yet classy. Opening the curvy container reveals the brush. The first thing I noticed is that the brush is angled to make application easier – I like it when they do that! When you look closer, you will notice that there’s different kinds of bristles. Apparently there’s six different lengths. The smaller inner bristles are made to reach for the smallest lashes, while the bigger bristles volumize your lashes overall.
There’s a nice coat of mascara on the brush – time to apply! There’s this trick to make the best out of these bristles. First you put the brush on the roots of your lashes, to capture the tiniest hairs, and then, while you’re moving up towards the ends of your lashes, turn the brush around with your fingers, following the upward movement. This is what creates the volume – the big bristles devide the lashes and coat them with mascara, to color them an intense shade of black and to make them look remarkably fuller. I first applied the mascara to my upper lashes only. Then also on my lower lashes, to see how that would turn out. See for yourself – this is just one coat on both lashes!
After applying another coat, the lashes did not clump at all, so that’s definitely a good thing! But for me one coat will do. The mascara stays on well throughout the day. It dries fast, so it won’t leave dots on your upper lids when you’re in a hurry, which I usually am. It is not waterproof, so be sure to take it off before taking a shower or going for a swim!
For me, this mascara is definitely a keeper! I was hesitant at first, but I’m really glad I bought two. I got these for €15,49 each, which is about $16.38 each in USD.
